Kyoobik Photo is another app by JixiPix. I was first interested in checking this app out after discovering another creative app called Percolator.
Below is the user interface. Its very simple and easy to use just like their other apps. One new thing in this app is the ability to add or erase tiles. In this example, I erased the tiles on around the edge. If you wanted to, you could erase a line right down the middle, or random tiles here and there.
Start out by selecting the style you want. There are 4 different styles, each with a number of variations:
JixiPix Premium Pack 1.2.0 (x64) Portable 713.4 Mb The Premium Pack bundles 18 incredible creative effects into one powerful package: Aquarella, Artista Haiku, Artista Oil, Artista Sketch, Artoon, Chalkspiration, Dramatic Black&White, Grungetastic, Kyoobik Photo, Moku Hanga, NIR Color, Pop Dot Comics, Portrait Painter, Rainy Daze, Romantic Photo, Simply HDR, Snow Daze and Vintage Scene. JixiPix Kyoobik Photo 1.34 File size: 103.3 MB The exploration into photo editing has led you to Kyoobik Photo (cubic), the photo app that turns your mundane photo.
- Kyoobik Photo is the style in the image below. It basically turns your image into a series of tiles, with different shapes to choose from.
- Oobik Shapes is sort of reminiscent of percolator with circle or flower shapes on a colored background.
- Kyoobert 3D uses 3D cubes to add some dimension to your image.
- Kyoobik Plane distorts your image so it looks like the text at the opening credit of star wars (thats the best I can describe it.)
If you want to fine tune your image, select adjust. Here you can adjust the shape, color, variation, and background paper. Below is a look at the shape panel. The gutter is the space you want between the tiles. I chose no gutter in this one. Border size is how thick you want the border to be. In this case, it was the white line around the tile, but you can change the color.
Color is….different. If you select tint, you can choose a tint you would like on the image. Education templates by nobody 2 1 1. Hold on though, it doesn’t apply the tint to the whole image, just random tiles. Shrug. If you choose kaleidescope, you can choose 5 different colors to tint the random tiles. These styles take some getting use to.
Variation is another interesting panel. Image shift seems to destroy the image a little bit. If you look at the example of this one towards the bottom, you’ll notice the border I had on the image is broken up due to the slight image shift. Contrast variation adds contrast to seemingly random tiles. Again, shrug. The shadow sliders cast a shadow under our tiles and onto the background paper.
Papers provides a lot of different textured paper to use as the background. You can even give it a tint if you’d like.
Examples
I have no idea why one tile is missing at the bottom left. It was there when I saved. I even tried saving a second time to see if I’d made a mistake the first. The second image here is the percolator type of style I was talking about. The third is the 3D style.
You can read more about the app and see their examples here, www.jixipix.com/kyoobik-photo/kyoobik.html
Conclusion
Kyoobik is different and unique. I’ve had the app for quite a while now and it still doesn’t excite me. I think the style just takes some getting use to. If you’re looking for something different that not many people have, give it a try.
